Alice In the Cuckoo's Nest

Professional theatre company Librarian Theatre is returning to Thurrock in February with 'Alice in the Cuckoo's Nest' which re-imagines Lewis Carroll's classic story in the setting of a modern day mental institution.

Although the show is family friendly, it is a far cry from the innocent adventure portrayed by Walt Disney's 1951 film version.

"We're not shying away from the darker sides of the subject matter," said Tom Cuthbertson, Librarian Theatre Artistic Director and actor.

"But nor will there be overly explicit content which would exclude younger audience members. Hopefully audiences of all ages will take something away from it, and it will help fuel important conversations about mental health."

Portfolio Holder for Central Services, Cllr Deb Huelin, said: "There has never been a better time to get involved with events taking place at your local library or theatre ?? tickets will be popular and limited, so book early to avoid disappointment."

Tickets can be booked for the two shows direct from the library venue or online at librariantheatre.com at ?10 each, or ?5 concessionary.

Performances are:

  • Wednesday 7 February 2018, 2pm at Stanford-le-Hope library
  • Thursday 8 February 2018, 2pm at Belhus library

The show is aimed at ages 9 years-old and over.
