Coalhouse fort

This is a real treasure of a find if you can find it. It’s never empty, but never cluttered by more than a dozen walkers and joggers. Coalhouse is an old fort built in 1862, but it’s really the grounds and lakes built around it and the river front that seems more beach than riverside and of course has stunning views of the esotery and of Kent across the river. It’s just 15 mins drive from Grays, and encompasses smooth paths for Skaters that lead almost all the way to Tilbury Fort a few miles along the river. It’s the perfect evening getaway after a busy days work.
