Today we are going to Rochester Castle. Its only 25 minutes from Grays
The castle based on the banks of the Medway River is a fine example of English fortifications for the 12th Century.
Built to defend London from the many attacks from the Normans and French its largely gutted and de-constructed on the inside but ominously looming on the out. This structure provides a strongly diverting way to experience the local history, the kids will feel like they are in Harry potter so they will love it, and if you have any reverence for History, you will to. And all with the added bonus of being situated in the very agreeable town of Rochester with its pleasant Harbour and café street life feel.
