Thurrock Catering Services provides Gold Food for Life, award winning lunchtime meals at 29 Primary Schools, 2 Special Schools, 2 Secondary Schools within the Borough, serving in excess of one million meals each year to children and school staff.¬† Due to the Universal Free School Meal‚??s for KS1 pupils and continued expansion and growth of our service, an opportunity now exists to work in a friendly and flexible environment within the area team to support our school kitchens in Thurrock.

We are looking for two strong, experienced Catering Assistants with a passion for good nutritious food and a positive ‚??can-do‚?? attitude!

You will be required to cover in schools where required across the borough of Thurrock to help organise, arrange and deliver all activities in the school kitchen, counter display and dining room area. You will need to promote and support the service by keeping abreast of new products, promotions and any changes in legislation. You will also need to be able to travel to different sites as required.

Your main responsibilities will be:

To cover where required and as directed by the Area Managers

Promotion of the Catering Service and supporting the Head of Kitchen to keep abreast of new products & legislation,

Support the Head of Kitchen and Catering Services to organise and deliver a high standard of service and customer care

Support the Head of Kitchen with food preparation and cooking as required

Participate in annual appraisals and any training required

Support the Catering Service to increase uptake and business growth

Full workplace training will be given, which includes food hygiene and safety training.  A flexible approach with a can do attitude is required together with a pleasant personality and excellent customer care ethics.
