Thurrock Council is committed to improving the rate at which household waste is recycled, re-used and composted. In order to deliver on this, the Environment & Highways Directorate are pleased to be recruiting to the post of Recycling Project Officer for a fixed term contract.

The Recycling Project Officer will take on day to day co-ordination and oversight of a range of initiatives and projects that will help to ensure that residents are enabled to recycle and re-use as much of the waste generated as possible.

This includes undertaking the analysis work required to understand whether the communication and other initiatives having the planned impact on recycling rates.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:

Knowledge of recycling programmes and initiatives, and an awareness of the work undertaken by WRAP

Experience of working to support projects from initiation to completion

The ability to work collaboratively and to engage with a range of stakeholders

The ability to co-ordinate and supervise small teams working on different tasks concurrently, with tight timeframes and a broad geographic spread

The ability to collate, interpret and analyse complex data and present the findings

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
