Our vision at Thurrock Adult Community College is to provide adult education where people have opportunity to learn, grow and shape their future.

To ensure we achieve our goals we are looking for highly motivated tutors to teach across all levels to help us increase and develop a diverse curriculum that meets the needs of the people of Thurrock and enables them to achieve their life and career ambitions enabling them to take advantage of all the opportunities that are available to them.

We are looking to expand our Counselling and Mental Health teams and our focus at present is to recruit Sessional Tutors who can teach the following:-

Level 1 – Level 3 Counselling Courses

Level 2 Mental Health Awareness

Starting salary: £21.99 per hour

Various hours, days and times

The Care curriculum is an integral part of Thurrock Adult Community College and has been growing since NHS England introduced its ‘Next Steps for the NHS Five Year Forward View’ with a commitment in the 2018 budget to invest over 2 billion pounds into mental health services.

The curriculum offers a broad range of learning opportunities to meet both local needs and government priorities. Overall aims of the curriculum are to support local residents into employment in the care sector, to up skill and gain recognised qualifications to support their chosen career path. Courses include introductory workshops in Counselling and Mental health Awareness, Counselling and Mental Health Awareness accreditation courses from levels 1 to 3.

You will join a supportive team who work closely together across multiple curriculum areas to develop the employability skills of local residents.

Sessions are typically between 2-5 hours, mornings, afternoons or evenings in school term time although occasional Saturday morning or holiday courses may also be required. The amount of work you are offered to deliver will depend on number and type of courses scheduled.

Qualifications – Tutors should have a recognised teaching qualification (or a commitment to undertake a level 3 teaching qualification within the first year of employment). Relevant Counselling or Mental Health qualifications at or above Level 3 are required. A member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
