Description

Our brand new state of the art cardiovascular centre - Barts Heart Centre, at St Bartholomew’s Hospital is now open! The amalgamation of Barts Health NHS Trust and University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) specialised cardiovascular services represents a unique and exciting opportunity to create and grow a world class service. This will benefit present and future patients in our local and wider communities; and be a facility we can truly be proud of. For staff, it creates a unique opportunity for you to grow and develop in a unique and dynamic environment.

The Barts Heart Centre Radiography department is currently looking for enthusiastic Specialist Radiographers to join our team for a 1 year Maternity cover post.

The cardiac rotation can be tailored to the skill set and interests of the individual. The normal rotation includes cardiac cath labs (including coronary intervention, structural heart intervention, electrophysiology, and pacing), cardiac CT. There is also the potential to train and rotate thorough cardiac MRI. Candidates with CMR experience may be considered for a static MRI post, or a weighted rotation.

The CMR and CT scanners currently run sociable hours, Monday to Friday. Optional weekend lists are available on the staff bank. The Cath Labs have a popular on-call system to cover the out-of-hours Heart Attack and Arrhythmia service.

The Barts Heart Centre is one of the largest cardiac centres in the world, and our highly specialist Radiography team has the expertise required to provide excellent training and on-going support for the successful applicants.

The department boasts a wealth of state-of-the-art equipment, with three dedicated cardiac MRI scanners, a dedicated cardiac CT scanner, and ten cardiac catheter labs. There is significant on-going investment, with three new replacement single-plane cath labs currently being procured; and the addition of a further bi-plane hybrid cath lab, and single-plane hybrid theatre.
