The Christmas and New Year period is a busy time for players and management but an even busier time for all the clubsâ?? volunteers that keep clubs at our level alive.
Programmes need to be compiled and printed, food needs to be purchased and cooked, boardrooms need to be prepared and our volunteers are here come rain and shine to ensure your safety on match-days.
We have a fantastic team at Grays Athletic and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the great work you have undertaken for and on behalf of our club in the past 12 months.
Itâ??s not been easy without a home ground of own own, but we have tried over the past few years to make the best of what we have available and at our disposal. East Thurrock United have been one of the clubs, along with our current landlords, Aveley FC, who have made a facility available to enable us to continue playing in the Ryman League. There have been a few â??hiccupsâ? along the way, but without the assistance of East Thurrock and Aveley we most probably would not be playing todayâ??s game. I thank you both most sincerely.
We have a great owner in Andy Swallow who is ably assisted by Joel Nathan our CEO and between them they have ensured that Grays Athletic FC continues in existence. They both know what this club means to our supporters and are determined to take us back to Grays where we rightfully belong.
On the back page of each home programme we list our squad of players and today I would like to list my own squad of volunteers who do what they do for the love of the club, without any financial reward.
