
The tests â?? commonly referred to as Key Stage 1 (KS1) â?? are teacher-assessed and showed better results locally when compared to the national picture. 2,400 pupils took part locally across all state-funded schools.

Portfolio Holder for Education and Health, Cllr James Halden said: "Over the past two years, new age-related standards were brought into Key Stage 1 to replace previous National Curriculum levels of attainment.
"I am pleased we continue to outperform the national statistics and am very proud of our local schools who are working tirelessly for our youngest residents. Importantly, a big well done to all of our students who should be incredibly happy with their achievement!"
