Students who attended Opportunity Thurrock at the London Cruise Terminal, Tilbury learned about a more than 80 different career opportunities available across the borough, and even managed to experience some of them via Virtual Reality (VR), simulators, activities and demonstrations.
Among those exhibiting at the event – organised by Thurrock Council’s Inspire team – included organisations from the construction, creative and cultural, engineering, hospitality, logistics, public service and retail sectors.
Cllr James Halden, portfolio holder for education, said: "With so many fantastic exhibitors and interesting activities taking place, it's easy to see why Opportunity Thurrock is the biggest and best careers event in the region.
"It makes me very proud to see young people in Thurrock so excited and engaged by the diverse opportunities available to them in the borough. I would like to thank and congratulate our Inspire team for once again putting on such an excellent event."
Opportunity Thurrock takes place on the first Wednesday of October every year. Employers, colleges or universities that would like to take part in the 2019 Opportunity Thurrock can find out more at thurrock.gov.uk/careers
