Jonah Hill

Last week we wrote about Rebel Willson on the basis that she had seemingly become a household name overnight and without any strong recollection as to why or how. Another name that could be said to fit this category is Jonah Hill.
Jonah Hill is, to many, the fat bloke from the Wolf of Wall street, in effect the Joe Pesci to De Caprio's De Nero. But no doubt about it if Martin Scorsese is using you in a film then you have arrived and are clearly a talent in the industry. But does anyone remember how he got here or was it overnight success for this one?
Jonah Hill was actually born into relative wealth and privilege, born in 1983 to an accountant father (who was actually a tour accountant for Guns n Roses) getting bored with LA he moved to New York to study acting and here actually ended up writing more than he acted, he was famous for writing plays that he himself would preform in Greenwich village, in a local bar or all places.
Here he befriended two youngsters called Rebecca and Jake Hoffman, who happen to have a quite well known father, Dustin.
From this association he got an audition for a film called "I Heart Huckerbee" and effectively that was his break in to the film industry. From here the roles continued to role in, albeit small roles, the 40 year old virgin and Knocked Up, but it didn't matter, he was on his way. It is here that many "stars" start to get it wrong but Jonah Hill's astuteness ensured he picked quality projects, for example Money Ball and the Wolf of Wall Street being two.
Its fair to say he is not a real "star" in the traditional sense, no one pays money to see the new Jonah Hill film, but he is an actor who understands this and rather than trying to be an alpha star, something his looks would never permit anyway, concentrates on being in good projects. And that is how his name seems to get branded around with such regularity. Less to do with his own talent so much as the "buzz films" of the moment that he manages to attach himself to. In 2016 alone he has 5 more films coming out (Hail Caesar, 23 Jump Street, Sausage Party, War Dogs and Collateral Beauty) all you notice starring alongside people who are more famous and better looking.
