Rebel Wilson

It can seem like every now and then that a "celebrity" starts, rather suddenly, turning up in all sorts of public spaces, chat show, adverts etc. and they seem to be gifted a certain prestige whilst having a certain talent void that leaves you wondering "how did this one get into the club"? Such is the case with Rebel Wilson. If you watch any of the mayor chat shows currently active you will doubtless have come across her.
So who is she? She is actually a writer, comedian, and now actress from Australia who was by no means an overnight success, or though it can seem like it bearing in mind two years ago no one you ask would likely know her at-all compared to now.
She of course made her name turning up in all girl comedy film "Bridesmaids" and went on to appear in the film Pitch Perfect. Prior to this she was on the stand-up comedy circuit in Australia, the US and UK, she actually wrote, produced and stared in a hit musical "The Westie Monologues" and prior to this appeared in the Sydney Theatre company for three years and was a drama graduate from there. In short this is someone who has actually paid their dues.
Her selling point is clearly the beautiful and happy "voluptuous" girl. It might be cynical to suggest that she is essentially wheeled out to tick the "non sizeist" box for any project that fears being to populated with skinny model types, but its easy to think that. But then why should it be only skinny waifs who adorn our screens? The fact is when you delve into her career you find its littered with writing and producing credits for all sorts of stage and screen projects. She's about to star alongside Sasha Baron Cohen in his new comedy "Grimsby" - we've seen it and its really not that funny but there is no deigning that Wilson's presence has the well groomed air of drama training and comic timing that will keep her around for a year or two yet.
You may not find her funny or very rewarding but the thing she is a doer and gets by on something other than pouting and looking good. Once you know this her late night turn-ups on the Graham Norton type shows start to become less annoying.
