Bora Bora is famous as one of the most tranquil islands of French Polynesia. Discovered by Jacob Roggeveen, and landed on by captain James Cook 1777, he famously called it the "Pearl of the Pacific". Its beauty and appeal are summed up by the many soldiers based there who after the Second World War, refused or strongly objected to returning home. The striking feature to new comers are the stunning and contrasting colours. Lush green vegetation white sandy beaches all with intermittent coconut trees making it feel like a Hollywood film set such is its perfection, and the exotically coloured native birds. With a year round perfect climate and a tourist structure that has been carefully managed so to avoid being spoilt - Bora Bora is the perfect place to visit.
